Who Should Attend New York ACE 2007?
This educational activity is designed for interventional cardiology, endovascular surgery, interventional radiology and cardiothoracic surgery clinicians, nurses, technicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners and other healthcare professionals with an interest in cardiovascular and endovascular therapies.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:
- Understand the current state of percutaneous heart valve technology (PHVT) and the need for additional clinical trial data to better assess it’s role in the treatment of valvular disease
- Understand the needs and opportunities associated with stent technologies that are currently in clinical use
- Understand how new technologies and procedures will redefine complex cardiac interventions, as well as the types of these interventions that will be performed
- Discuss topics at the core of PVD and identify factors critical to successful peripheral disease management
- Identify and discuss new technologies and procedures for treatment of carotid artery disease and PVD
- Discuss recent updates in genomic and cell therapies in the treatment of acute and chronic ischemic heart disease
- Discuss role of endovascular stent grafts in the treatment of abdominal aortic aneurysms, new technologies and causes and treatment of endoleaks
- Understand opportunities to utilize minimally invasive endograft therapy in the repair of thoracic aortic aneurysm
- Understand role of newer therapies in improving survival in the presence of cardiogenic shock
- Understand new less invasive procedures for repair of septal defects that allow for decreased morbidity and mortality
- Discuss options for infarct stabilization and function preservation in the non-revascularizable patient
- Recognize new opportunities to improve medical management of CHF patients through recently developed drugs and devices
- Understand current data regarding carotid artery stenting and the potential risks and benefits identified by this data
- Obtain insight to international perspective on carotid artery stenting when compared to carotid endartectomy
- Understand new technologies and procedures for treatment of PVD and their potential impact on optimal treatment of this disease including acute limb ischemia
- Recognize expanding treatment options for patients with structural heart disease including minimally invasive surgical intervention, as well as percutaneous approaches that will avoid the need for surgery in some patients
- Utilize newer imaging technologies to better identify issues requiring surgical intervention
- Discuss new endovascular techniques improving the treatment of arteriovenous malformations and fistula and latest embolization techniques
- Recognize opportunities for the use of venous ablation in the elimination of venous reflux disease
- Evaluate data presented and determine clinical significance of late-stage thrombosis following use of DES stents when compared to BMS stents
- Determine roles of oral vs. infusible platelet therapies in patients undergoing interventional procedures
- Compare and contrast CABG vs. stenting for left main disease and determine appropriateness for diabetic patients
- Identify role of operator training, background and experience on success of carotid stenting procedures
- Discuss what needs to be done in order to expand carotid stenting procedures to a larger patient population
- Evaluate data presented on percutaneous valve repair and determine current viability of these procedures as replacements for standard of care

Lenox Hill Hospital is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to sponsor CME programs and seminars for physicians. Lenox Hill Hospital designates this educational activity for a maximum of 30 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

CME certificates will be awarded only to New York ACE registrants submitting program evaluation forms. A certificate of attendance is available for all attendees.
